Patrick’s Day Parade

This was a first for a home-made wind turbine as far as we are aware – the first self-built wind turbine in a St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  The 3.1m dia turbine was made in Ballinamore at a workshop with mostly local people so it seemed fitting to enter it into the local parade.

We were in good company here with a few beautiful old Porsche tractors. As you can see that is us in the background – the green truck – thanks Muiris for being involved with your tipper truck 🙂

This is us putting the final touches to the truck outside the workshop.

Everyone got dolled up for the day!

Here is our driver – aptly named Pup, don’t let appearances fool you – he’s a good driver!

And here is Paddy himself, followed by the local Leitrim scouts and guides, their float won 1st prize for originality – well done!

Here is the wind powered tipper truck followed closely by the local junior GAA players from the Sean O’Heslin club

The tail makes a good promotional space, except of course it is usually quite high up!

There was a good crowd in town for the parade.

We won 2nd prize in the most original float category – do you think we deserve it?

Isn’t it a beauty? It’s a Farmall Cub, not sure what age, great restoration job!

I know you can’t see it too clearly here however the dog in the background, just in front of the camper van, is wearing a football jersey and shorts!
